Aware of the importance of preserving the environment, ARAEXfilm has developed a corporate culture in which the Environment is a permanent and priority objective, together with Quality, Product Safety, innovation and Occupational Risk Prevention, ensuring the continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System, as well as the company’s competitiveness and growth. This philosophy is reflected in ARAEXfilm’s Integrated Management Policy and its Sustainable Procurement Policy.
Circular Economy
Plastics play a very important role in the Circular Economy model because of their capacity to be recovered and used as resources. The goal is to move from a linear economy to a circular one.
The linear economy is designed around extracting resources to make products, using them, and throwing them away; in other words, it is a model based on the “take, make, dispose” concept that consumes large amounts of energy and materials.
The circular economy contrasts with the linear model from the very start of the process, since product design aims to extend the product’s useful life while creating added value. It is a model based on the 7Rs: “redesign, reduce, reuse, repair, renew, recover and recycle”. This enables sustainable growth by reducing the amount of resources used to manufacture new products and by being able to respond to the waste they generate.

ARAEXfilm intends to manufacture sustainable packaging products, designed and developed to minimize their impact on the environment and to meet society’s needs for effectively transporting, storing, and warehousing what is produced.
Being manufacturers allows us to deliver products with an efficient packaging design, since we can develop films with optimal thicknesses and film dimensions tailored to our customers’ needs, which reduces offcuts and avoids unnecessary waste.
The products extruded by ARAEXfilm are 100% recyclable, so the waste generated in the production process itself is fed back into the process as recovered material.

In addition, in its commitment to sustainability and to providing solutions for the Circular Economy of plastics, ARAEXfilm developed ARALENE74, a shrink film made from recycled polyolefin with 74% recycled content. It has obtained AENOR certification under the UNE-EN 15343:2008 standard, which applies a systematic approach that ensures a minimum content of recycled plastic used in the manufacture of a plastic product.

The product certified by AENOR under the UNE-EN 15343:2008 standard is called ARALENE74.

This certification means that the Recycled Plastic Content can be used to benefit from the tax advantages provided for in the Waste and Contaminated Soils Law, regarding the special tax on non-reusable plastic packaging. In this way, the tax can be reduced by presenting a duly accredited certificate, such as the one AENOR has granted to ARAEXfilm for the ARALENE74 product.
